To determine the nation’s best states for jobs, Zippia used data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics  and the American Community Survey to rank states based on four criteria — year-over-year improvement in unemployment, current unemployment rate, year-over-year income improvements, and home to income prices (where income goes further). Researchers then averaged the ranking for all four criteria. States with the lower rankings were considered better for jobs.

Here are the 10 best states for jobs, based on the analysis:

1. Iowa

2. Minnesota

3. Virginia

4. Nebraska

5. Oklahoma

6. South Dakota

7. Missouri

8. New Hampshire

9. North Carolina

10. Georgia
