Rochester (N.Y.) Regional Health has launched a student-loan support program aimed at strengthening access to critical clinical services.
The initiative is part of a partnership with student loan repayment platform Clasp and is designed to support students training for high-need roles, including certified registered nurse anesthetists, surgical technologists and radiologic technologists, according to a March 16 joint news release.
Through the program, eligible CRNAs may receive up to $180,000 in student-loan repayment support. Radiologic technologists may receive up to $30,000, and surgical technologists may receive up to $25,000, the release said.
Students can apply while in school and secure an employment commitment before graduation. System leaders said the program is intended to address workforce shortages in anesthesia, perioperative and imaging roles by reducing financial barriers for students and creating pathways to employment within the health system.
“This program is a strategic investment in the future stability of care for our community,” Charlene Wilson, the system’s executive vice president and CHRO, said in the release. “By helping future clinicians train and stay here, we are strengthening access to the services patients rely on, while continuing to manage our resources responsibly in a rapidly evolving healthcare environment.”
Rochester Regional Health operates nine hospitals.
