Atlantic City, N.J.-based AtlantiCare and Stockton University in Galloway, N.J., are establishing the Stockton-AtlantiCare College of Community Health in Atlantic City.
Four things to know:
1. The alliance will expand healthcare education, workforce development and clinical training opportunities across southeastern New Jersey, according to a May 7 joint news release.
2. AtlantiCare committed an initial amount of $15 million to Stockton to support academic programming, workforce initiatives and related efforts tied to the partnership.
3. The Stockton-AtlantiCare College of Community Health will expand Stockton’s existing programs in nursing, health sciences, social work and public health. The organizations also plan to develop new undergraduate and graduate programs aligned with regional workforce needs.
4. Respiratory therapy is expected to be among the first new programs launched through the alliance. Other potential growth areas include physician assistant studies, radiology technology, medical laboratory science, rehabilitation therapies, behavioral health, speech language therapy and health leadership.
AtlantiCare serves communities across southern New Jersey through more than 110 locations and a workforce of more than 6,500. Stockton University offers more than 160 undergraduate and graduate programs.
