The law offers greater flexibility to healthcare workers, including physicians, physician assistants and nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Licensed physicians, physician assistants and nurses in the state also can receive an emergency license to provide healthcare in-person or through telehealth with no application fee. They can also have their licenses automatically renewed during the state of emergency brought about by the pandemic. Retired physicians, physician assistants and nurses can reactivate their license immediately with no application fee.
“As a result of these actions, I am hopeful that more Maine people will be able to get counseling, prescriptions and treatment from their trusted health care providers from the safety of their homes whenever possible and without sacrificing other basic necessities,” said Ms. Mills.
