Louisiana organizations partner on $2M medical assistant pipeline

A new $2 million program aims to create a medical assistant pipeline to support hospitals around Baton Rouge, La., The Advocate reported June 20.

The program — led by the Baton Rouge Health District — will train 100 participants as medical assistants. The funds will cover tuitio n costs and provide financial support for the two-semester program at Baton Rouge Community College or River Parishes Community College.

Upon completion, program graduates will find job placements at local healthcare facilities, such as Baton Rouge General, Our Lady of the Lake, Ochsner Baton Rouge, Woman’s Hospital and Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center.
