The job cuts affect several roles within HM Health Solutions, including those related to platform and technology, portfolio management and customer service. The layoffs are effective immediately, and some employees will get severance packages, according to a written statement Highmark sent to Penn Live. There are some open positions within the company that a number of affected employees could fill.

“While this was a difficult decision, it was made with the best long-term interest of our employees and customers. It will position the company to continue its success in a very competitive market and advance our patient-centered mission in the most effective and efficient manner,” Highmark said in the statement cited by Penn Live.
