Healthcare’s job gains in January: 5 things to know

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that healthcare added 43,700 jobs in January, with gains in hospitals, nursing and residential care facilities, and home healthcare services, according to the latest jobs report published Feb. 7.

Here are four other things to know from the report:

1. Ambulatory healthcare services saw an increase of 16,600 jobs in January, with home healthcare services contributing 10,600 of those gains.

2. Hospitals, and nursing and residential care facilities added 13,900 and 13,200 jobs, respectively, in January.

3. On average, healthcare added 57,000 jobs per month in 2024.

4. The U.S. added 143,000 jobs across industries in January, including gains in healthcare.
