Hospital Prices Virtually Unchanged in January

Hospital producer prices remain virtually unchanged in January, with a 0.1 percent increase from December 2011, according to preliminary statistics published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Compared to January 2011, hospital prices increased 2.1 percent. In addition, physician office wholesale prices rose 1.5 percent and 0.2 percent from January 2011 and December 2011, respectively.

The BLS’ producer price index measures average changes in selling prices received by producers for their products and services.
