The award was presented to Long Beach Chief of Police Wally Hebeish and Fire Chief Xavier Espino for their respective departments, according to a news release shared with Becker’s.
The award was created to honor people who live out San Francisco-based Dignity Health’s tagline, “humankindness.”
“The idea behind the word [humankindness] is simple and yet immensely profound,” Michael Neils, the hospital’s chief philanthropy officer, said during the award ceremony. “Every human person is a unity of body, mind, and spirit. This means that every person has the power and potential to bring healing to others.”
