CVS’ Oak Street Health is cutting 219 jobs early next year amid restructuring efforts at the company.
The layoffs affect individuals reporting to someone who works in Oak Street’s Chicago office, but only 80 of the positions were held by individuals residing in Illinois, a CVS spokesperson told Becker’s.
“We regularly look for ways to operate more efficiently to better serve our clients, consumers, and patients,” the spokesperson said. “As part of this work, we’ve decided to restructure certain parts of the Oak Street Health business. These changes will help drive high performance, reduce costs, and best position us for continued success going forward.”
Those affected can apply for other positions at CVS, and those who don’t find other roles will be eligible to receive a transition package to cover financial and health benefits, outplacement support and counseling.
In October, CVS said it would close 16 Oak Street clinics two years after acquiring the senior-focused primary care chain for $10.6 billion. The centers will close by the end of February 2026, and the company will continue to operate 230 clinics across 27 states.
