Brooklyn’s Brookdale University Hospital Lays Off 240 Workers

Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., has laid off 240 physicians, nurses and other union and non-union employees, according to a report in The New York Times.

Hospital officials cited the economy for the layoffs and blamed payment disputes with payors and rising drug, energy and malpractice costs for the financial troubles.
