Boston’s Beth Israel to Save 450 Jobs

Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston plans to reduce the number of potential layoffs at the hospital from 600 to 150, according to a report in the Boston Globe.

The hospital plans to use a combination of wage freezes, salary cuts and benefit reductions to spare the 450 jobs originally included in the potential layoffs.

The new plan is estimated to save $16 million and is largely supported by hospital employees, according to the report.
