3 Philadelphia health facilities launch wireless alert systems for staff safety

Philadelphia-based Behavioral Wellness Center has greenlit wireless employee alert systems from technology company ROAR for Good.

After a three-month trial, Behavioral Wellness Center, formerly North Philadelphia Health System's Girard Medical Center, has decided to expand the use of the tech to two more of its clinics in Philadelphia, according to the March 7 news release. Throughout the trial, the wireless technology helped reduce on-site incidents in 2021 by 39 percent compared with the same three-month period in 2020. There was also a 20 percent increase in employee satisfaction regarding workplace safety and a 28 percent increase in employee satisfaction at incident response. The technology also aligned with a 24 percent reduction in staff-versus-patient incident claims in workers' compensation claims.

"In order for our patients to feel supported and to find the road to recovery, our clinical professionals need to be at the top of their game — and that means feeling safe. This technology allows them to focus on the diagnosis and treatment of patients, and avoid worrying about safety concerns," Doug Maier, CFO of Behavioral Wellness Center, said in the release.
