Scottsdale, Ariz., is the best place in the U.S. to rent, largely because of its quality of life, according to a July 7 ranking from personal finance website WalletHub.
To develop the list of the best local rental markets, WalletHub compared 182 U.S. cities, including the 150 most populated and at least two of the most populated from each state. It evaluated 21 metrics across rental market and affordability and quality of life, including rental affordability, cost of living, job market and safety.
As many U.S. cities face rising housing costs, health systems have taken employee housing into their own hands to ensure recruitment and retention. One example is Atlanta-based Emory University, which is renovating two buildings to house staff at Emory Healthcare. It will create more than 50 rental apartments for staff whose salaries fall within specific levels.
