To determine the best cities for STEM jobs, Wallethub’s analysts compared the nation’s 100 most populated metropolitan areas across three dimensions — professional opportunities, STEM-friendliness and quality of life — using 20 metrics. Each metric was graded on a 100-point scale, with a score of 100 representing the most favorable conditions for STEM professionals. Analysts then used each metropolitan area’s weighted average across all metrics to calculate the city’s overall score.
