If a deal had not been reached, roughly 1,000 nurses — represented by the Illinois Nurses Association — would have gone on strike Tuesday morning. Contract negotiations started in May and had stalled, with the union authorizing a strike in August.
Details of the tentative deal will not be available until the nurses vote on it, according to the report. The union is recommending that the nurses ratify the contract.
