The Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain has eliminated 100 full-time equivalent positions due to budget constraints, according to a New Britain Herald report.
"We've cut overtime and not replaced positions; we also cut people's hours, allowing them to keep their jobs. It's been difficult and we're not done with the cuts," Mary Morgan, the hospital's vice president of human resources, told the New Britain Herald. The hospital has also had to mandate furloughs, according to the report.
Additionally, HOCC closed its nephrology clinic and a nursing unit, according to the report.
The cost-cutting measures were made due to reimbursement reductions — the hospital has lost $3 million in Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements this year, according to the report.
