Study finds hiring a toxic employee leads to negative long-term effects

A recent study from Cornerstone OnDemand found that when a "toxic employee" is hired, no good can come from their employment.

The studied was covered in a recent Times Live news article.

Here are 3 things to know:

- When the ratio of toxic employees rose by 1:20, co-workers became 54% more likely to quit their jobs.
- In a group of 20, it costs an average of $12,800 to bring on board just one toxic employee.
- While there were no short-term effects for hiring a toxic employee, the long term-effects on stress, burnout and peace of mind are large.

The results were reported by Cornerstone OnDemand after analyzing a data set of 63,000 employees.
