Monthly Healthcare Job Growth in 2013 Trails Behind 2012 Numbers

Monthly growth in healthcare jobs has averaged 17,000 jobs through October this year, lagging behind an average monthly gain of 27,000 jobs in 2012, according to the most recent seasonally adjusted numbers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Last month, the healthcare industry added 15,000 jobs, with the most growth happening in ambulatory healthcare services: Physician offices, outpatient care centers and home healthcare services added 11,000 jobs in October.

Hospitals added 2,200 jobs last month.
