Healthcare industry adds jobs in December

The healthcare industry contributed 34,000 of the overall 252,000 new jobs that were added in the U.S. last month, according to the most recent jobs report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Within the healthcare industry, ambulatory healthcare services added the most new jobs, clocking in at 16,000. Hospitals also added 7,000 jobs in December. Nursing and residential care facilities added 11,000.

Healthcare employment growth averaged 26,000 per month in 2014 and 17,000 per month in 2013, according to the report.
