California VA hospital announces $20M in new hires

The Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fresno, Calif., will use $20 million in additional funding to hire 86 new employees, according to The Fresno Bee.

Most of the new hires will replenish a specialty care department. They will staff areas such as podiatry, urology and other specialty services that often have long wait times, according to Wessel Meyer, MD, director of the Fresno VA hospital.

Dr. Meyer told veterans and community members earlier this week that the VA hospital will undergo a series of policy changes and a full retraining of staff members to provide better, more efficient care, according to the report.
