Arrowhead Regional Medical Center Nurses Picket

About 400 nurses, represented by the California Nurses Association/National Nurses United, held a picket Thursday outside Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton, Calif., according to a report by The Sun.

The contract between the union and the hospital will expire June 1, and the union held the picket because negotiations are not moving forward, according to the report. Their primary concerns are patient care and nursing safety, a union representative told The Sun.

However, a spokesman for San Bernardino County, which owns Arrowhead Regional, said the only proposals the nurses have sent have been about pay raises, according to the report. He added the hospital has never been cited for violating nurse-patient staffing ratios.

The California Nurses Association represents about 900 nurses at the hospital.
