YouTube expands partnership with MLB

Building upon a marketing partnership inked during the 2017 World Series, YouTube TV subscribers will now be able to watch the MLB’s live channel on the streaming platform, according to Fortune.

YouTube TV raised its monthly service price to $40 in February and said MLB and NBA TV would eventually be added. YouTube plans to eventually bring MLB.tv — the league’s online subscription channel that streams all games live — to the platform, though subscribers will have to pay an additional fee.

“YouTube brought tremendous creativity, marketing energy and innovation to the most exciting part of our year, the postseason and World Series,” said MLB executive vice president of commerce Noah Garden, according to Fortune. “Their engagement with our young fans, rising stars and clubs showed that YouTube TV is a natural partner for our sport and we’re proud to build on this groundbreaking relationship.”

The MLB will continue to promote YouTube TV during the 2018 and 2019 World Series, and YouTube will use MLB players in its own advertising campaigns.
