Despite having significant differences, both systems have recently passed healthcare reform legislation, and the authors urge that collaboration could uncover key learnings for each system.
The paper, co-authored by The Commonwealth Fund’s David Blumenthal, MD, MPP, and Jennifer Dixon, PhD, director of the Nuffield Trust in the U.K., identifies three key areas for “mutual learning”: finance and reimbursement, organization and information technology.
