University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics (Madison). Launched in 1942, the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics department of neurosurgery has been at the forefront of providing advanced neurological care. More than 30 providers make up the department of neurosurgery at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics, treating patients with a variety of neurological and spine disorders. The UW Health Brain Tumor Center, working in collaboration with the UW Carbone Cancer Center, cares for more than 1,200 brain tumor patients each year. Faculty members also participate in research and currently support nine ongoing clinical trials. For 2017-18, U.S. News & World Report ranked the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics No. 43 in the nation for neurology and neurosurgery, and the hospital is a Blue Distinction Center for spine surgery.
