University Hospitals Ahuja Medical Center (Beachwood, Ohio). Ahuja Medical Center has implemented several initiatives to conserve energy and reduce costs. The facility’s design optimizes natural light use and incorporates bioswales throughout its landscaped areas to reduce runoff waters and increase onsite filtration. UHAMC also installed water-efficient plumbing fixtures, which have reduced the facility’s water usage by 25 percent, and engaged in recycling protocols and water and energy conservation practices. The hospital has received the 2016 The Greenhealth Partner for Change Award honoring its sustainability efforts.
