The program, sponsored by Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend — members of the musical group The Who — is the first of its kind in the United States and is modeled on the Teenage Cancer Trust program in the United Kingdom.

The program aims to provide youths with the care and support needed to face the physical and emotional challenges of a cancer diagnosis, according to the release. The UCLA Daltrey/Townshend Teen & Young Adult Cancer Program will consist of a special hospital unit with adjoining patient rooms and a common lounge dedicated to treating teens and young adults with cancer.

Who Cares, a fundraising initiative by Mr. Daltrey and Mr. Townshend, will help fund the program.
