UAB Health Prepares Wallace Tumor Institute for Patients

The University of Alabama at Birmingham Comprehensive Cancer Center, part of UAB Health, is preparing to open the Wallace Tumor Institute in Birmingham after a $30 million renovation.

The institute is the product of a UAB effort begun in 2010 to create an interdisciplinary, interactive environment fostering scientific discovery, according to a news release.

The building will debut with a grand opening Aug. 23 featuring remarks from Gov. Robert Bently, Birmingham Mayor William Bell, UAB President Ray Watts and UAB Cancer Center director Edward Partridge.
