The project will add two new buildings to the main campus. One building will be a 135,000-square-foot critical care tower with 50 new critical care beds and 60 Level IIIC neonatal intensive care unit beds.
The second building will be a 30,000-square-foot medical office building that will house the Center for the Urban Child, an initiative to help Pennsylvania children “break the cycles of food insecurity, violence and childhood illness,” according to the release. The initiative will provide medical treatment and services to meet three main goals:
1. Reduce barriers to healthcare access for patients and their families.
2. Improve the diagnosis of and care for diseases that disproportionately impact children in the community.
3. Modify the factors that contribute to disparities.
