Nearly four out of every five medical student polled thought that primary care physicians and specialists have too many administrative chores. Additionally, three out of five students polled thought time pressure keeps physicians from forming good relationships with patients.
“Students have negative views of the work life of all physicians, especially primary care physicians,” the authors of the study conclude. “Students planning careers in primary care share this negative view of their future work life, suggesting that their career choices are not based on different work life perceptions.”
