Seven Specialty Hospitals Listed Among Top 100 Cardiovascular Hospitals

Thomson Reuters’ new list of the Top 100 Cardiovascular Hospitals includes seven specialty hospitals. Here are descriptions of each hospital.

Tucson (Ariz.) Heart Hospital. Part of the Carondelet Health Network, this hospital has three ORs, for cardiac, thoracic and vascular surgery; four catheterization suites, two of which are for electrophysiology; an ED; an ICU; and a telemetry unit for cardiac monitoring. It also provides overnight in-room accommodations for family members.

Arizona Heart Hospital (Phoenix). This 59-bed facility is a collaboration between physicians and MedCath. HealthGrades recently ranked the hospital No. 1 in Arizona for cardiology services and coronary intervention.

Indiana Heart Hospital (Indianapolis).
The hospital has 40 universal beds, 16 ICU beds and 32 observation rooms. It has four surgery suites, four cardiac catheterization labs. It has the only 24-hour emergency room for heart care in Indiana. A 45,000-square-foot medical office building is attached to the hospital.

St. Vincent Heart Center (Indianapolis). Founded in 2002 by cardiologists and cardiovascular surgeons in the Care Group and CorVasc, this 80-bed hospital became part of St. Vincent Health in 2006. The heart center operates a 24/7 heart emergency unit.

Oklahoma Heart Hospital (Oklahoma City). This hospital features 78 patient rooms, four open-heart/peripheral vascular surgical suites, five cardiac and peripheral vascular catheterization labs. It has the only dedicated heart emergency department in Oklahoma City. It is a joint venture between the Oklahoma Cardiovascular Associates and the Sisters of Mercy Health System.

Heart Hospital of Austin (Texas). This 58-bed hospital offers a full range of cardiac services and includes a 24-hour full service emergency center. It is a joint venture between Austin Heart Cardiologists, Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeons Group of Austin and MedCath.

Harlingen (Texas) Medical Center. This 112-bed hospital is led by physicians specializing in cardiovascular care, orthopedics, neurology, obstetrics and gynecology. Cardiovascular services include two ORs dedicated to heart and vascular surgery, two cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology laboratories and a general acute care 24-hour emergency center.
