Roger Williams Medical Center Merger Moves Forward

The Rhode Island Attorney General and the Rhode Island Department of Health have accepted the application of merger between Roger Williams Medical Center and St. Joseph Health Services of Rhode Island, both located in Providence, R.I., as complete, according to report in the Providence Business News.

The application will be scrutinized over the next 180 days, including a public hearing and evaluation by the Department of Health’s Health Services Council, in the next step of the process.

If approved, the two health systems will form CharterCare Health Partners, which will have 579 licensed beds, employ about 3,200 workers and have annual operating revenue of about $330 million, according to the report.
