According to the report, operational-related functions, such as contract management, benefits administration, materials management and bed management applications have grown significantly in the last five years.

Time lag is one of the biggest sources of waste in a hospital, and it accounts for emergency room crowding issues. Reducing or eliminating time lag can solve these issues, which leads to operational efficiency, according to the post. Operational efficiency is essential for the clinical and financial success of a healthcare organization.
