President of Greater Newport Physicians in California Dies

Catherine “Kit” Campion-Ritz, MD, president of Greater Newport Physicians in Orange County, Calif., died this past Saturday in a bicycle accident. She was 57 years old.

Dr. Catherine Campion-Ritz died on Sept. 15, 2012.Dr. Campion-Ritz was president of GNP, a 550-physician independent practice association, since 1994. She played a major role when GNP affiliated with MemorialCare Health System, based in Fountain Valley, Calif., earlier this year.

“The MemorialCare family extends its heartfelt sympathy to Dr. Campion’s family, friends, patients and colleagues,” Barry Arbuckle, PhD, president and CEO of MemorialCare Health System, said in a news release. “She brought to all of us a clear-headed approach to leadership and an incredible vision for the future of healthcare, inspiring everyone to ensure we always provided the best, most compassionate care, which was her hallmark.”
