Paul Ramsey, MD. CEO of UW Medicine (Seattle). Dr. Ramsey joined UW Medicine in 1978 and rose through the ranks to serve as senior executive leader and chair of the UW Department of Medicine before he became CEO, executive vice president for medical affairs and dean of the school of medicine in 1997. He oversees the four-hospital health system as well as UW Medicine’s large physician practice plan, network of primary care clinics and Airlift Northwest, a fixed wing and helicopter air ambulance service. During his tenure, Dr. Ramsey built UW School of Medicine into one of the top-ranked primary care medical schools by U.S. News & World Report and expects to raise $2 billion to advance patient care, medical education and research by 2020. In addition to his accomplishments growing UW Medicine, Dr. Ramsey is a member of the Association of American Physicians and the National Academy of Medicine.
