Northwell taps cancer research, clinical trial leader

New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Northwell Health has appointed Geraldine O’Sullivan Coyne, MD, PhD, to system head and principal investigator for the system’s newly established Start Center for Cancer Research. 

The unit — set to be the first Start center in New York state — will bring early stage clinical trials to the system’s R.J. Zuckerberg Cancer Center in New Hyde Park, according to a July 22 news release from Northwell.

Dr. O’Sullivan Coyne previously served as a clinical investigator at Start Dublin in Ireland and in various leadership roles during her seven years at the National Cancer Institute.
