A spokesperson for RGH told the Democrat & Chronicle a piece of construction equipment from a nearby project hit the water pipe around 3 p.m. Tuesday, causing water to enter the hospital’s boiler room.
The spokesperson said some ER services were temporarily diverted for several hours as officials repaired the pipe. During that time, walk-in patients were still accepted.
Officials enacted several precautionary measures, including rescheduling some operations that were to take place Wednesday morning, limiting water usage and distributing bottled water throughout the campus. All afternoon procedures are scheduled to take place as planned, the spokesperson said.
