Mr. White, a former Nike executive and a friend of Mr. Jordan’s, received care at Providence in 2017 when he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and cardiac amyloidosis, according to an Oct. 1 news release from Providence St. Vincent Medical Foundation, Providence’s fundraising arm, that was shared with Becker’s.
The new cardiac amyloidosis center will be part of Providence Heart Institute’s Center for Advanced Heart Failure. The new center will focus on using AI to diagnose cardiac amyloidosis earlier, with the goal of addressing racial disparities and improving healthcare equity.
Other notable figures who have donated to the center are actor Chris Tucker, rapper Ludacris, and Nike CEO John Donahoe and Executive Chairman Mark Parker, according to the release.
