The 60-bed Heart Hospital, the region’s first “hospital within a hospital,” will include three cardiac catheterization labs, an Arrhythmia center, a cardiac intensive care unit and acute care rooms, according to the report. The hospital will also include oncology rooms and a bereavement area.
The Cancer Institute will include diagnostic and treatment resources from Saint Francis Infusion Center, Cape Medical Oncology and Saint Francis Infectious Disease Center, according to the report. Thirty of the recovery bays will include sliding glass doors so that patients can choose if they want privacy or to talk with others undergoing treatment.
Construction on the new centers is expected to finish in 2011.
