The hospital currently has one permanent MRI machine and leases a mobile MRI. The construction of the freestanding Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital in 2011 opened space in the hospital to build an MRI department to house the existing MRI machine and an additional machine, eliminating the need to lease the mobile MRI, according to the report.
