MD Anderson names chief wellness officer

Houston-based University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center has appointed Jennifer Bickel, MD, as the center’s first vice president and chief wellness officer.

Dr. Bickel will step into the role Jan. 6 and work closely with the senior vice president of people, culture and infrastructure, and the chief academic officer, according to a Nov. 1 news release from MD Anderson. 

She will also lead the development of a wellness institute within MD Anderson to foster “an environment that enhances engagement, psychological safety and professional fulfillment,” the release said. 

Dr. Bickel previously served as chief wellness officer at Tampa, Fla.-based Moffitt Cancer Center, where she established the Moffitt Wellness Academy. 

MD Anderson also recently named an associate vice president of art experience to help create a multisensory environment that promotes health and well-being.
