Under the 10-year agreement, MD Anderson will help improve HIAE’s oncology program by focusing on patient care, research, education and prevention. MD Anderson will help HIAE develop radiation oncology, medical oncology, surgical oncology, diagnostic imaging, nursing, pathology and pharmacy programs as well as centers of excellence. These centers will initially include breast, prostate, thoracic, gastrointestinal and hematology cancer care and will eventually offer specialized care for all cancer diagnoses.
The agreement expands an existing relationship between HIAE and MD Anderson, as the Brazilian facility became MD Anderson’s first formal sister institution in 2002.
