As part of the deal, Beth Israel will ensure hospital care of Atrius’s heart and cancer patients as well as other patients with “complex needs,” according to the report. Internists from the three offices of Boston-based Harvard Vanguard, Atrius’s largest physician practice, are expected to send more patients to Beth Israel.

The two groups are also planning to collaborate on quality improvement and efficiency efforts.
