Saint Anne’s also renewed an agreement with Brigham and Women’s Hospital, also in Boston, to provide radiation oncology services. Under the agreement with Dana-Farber, Dana-Farber will help to recruit “key personnel” for the oncology department as well as provide management services for the community hospital.
These partnerships of the Harvard teaching affiliate hospitals with Saint Anne’s, a community hospital owned by Caritas Christi Health Care, are recent examples of more Boston teaching hospitals collaborating with hospitals outside of the city.
Healthcare specialists said in the report that these kinds of affiliations may increase as payment incentives for the teaching hospitals are likely to change as a result of healthcare reform.
