- Dana-Farber and Beth Israel plan to open a freestanding $1.68 billion cancer center, according to the Boston Globe report.
- Stakeholders and supporters of the center testified before the Massachusetts Department of Public Health in a determination of need hearing, according to an April 18 news release from Dana Farber.
- Mass General Brigham unveiled plans for a more integrative, patient-focused, equitable cancer care cancer care model in September.
- According to the Boston Globe report, Mass General Brigham and Brigham and Women’s Hospital will unify cancer operations in a new planned joint venture, the Mass General Brigham Cancer Institute, as part of the new care model.
- The institute will not be housed in a freestanding building, according to an Oct. 30 report from NPR affiliate WBUR. This strategy will provide “easy access to a wide range of specialists,” under one roof, according to the Boston Globe report.
