Mr. Hoffman cited expanded coverage for Americans under healthcare reform legislation that will make in-store clinics an additional source for patients to access care. Wal-Mart currently has 140 independently operated clinics and is considering partnering with potential vendors to expand their qualifications.

The clinics would target the middle and working-class people who have limited access to primary care, Mr. Hoffman said in the report.
