The expansion includes adding 18,000 square feet to the Bayview Medical Office and renovating an additional 10,000 square feet. The project will consolidate the hospital’s cancer services in one location, relocating oncology and hematology cancer resources from the hospital’s Burton Pavilion to the expanded center.
The center will add radiation oncology to its offerings and will expand programs for tobacco cessation, survivorship and familial cancer. The familial cancer program will study families with multiple cancer patients to gain insight into the genetics of cancer. In addition, the hospital will add new exam rooms, chemotherapy infusion stations and an oncology pharmacy to the cancer center.
Johns Hopkins Bayview officials expect to complete the project by the fall of 2014.
