Job Cuts Expected After Merger of Two N.Y. Hospitals

St. Mary’s Hospital and Amsterdam Memorial Healthcare, both located in Amsterdam, N.Y., are expect to sign a formal acquisition agreement in the coming weeks, which will result in job losses, according to a report in the Albany Business Review.

Amsterdam Memorial, which employs 495 people, filed a WARN notice, listing its employees as part of a plant closure, according to the report. St. Mary’s says that it will maintain 80-85 percent of the Amersterdam Memorial staff, which would result in between 75 and 100 people losing their jobs.
