Fellows are chosen based on professional accomplishments from a pool of nominees to collaborate with the IOM on initiatives related to their respective fields of expertise.
Fellows Deidra C. Crews, MD, assistant professor of medicine at Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine; Kathleen M. Schmeler, MD, assistant professor of gynecologic oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston; Katherine J. Gold, MD, assistant professor of obstetrics, gynecology and family medicine at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor; and Scott D. Halpern, MD, assistant professor of medicine at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine in Philadelphia, will begin collaborating with the IOM on national health and health policy issues in October.
Each fellow will receive a flexible $25,000 research stipend and will contribute on a roundtable related to his or her interests over the two-year duration of the fellowship.
