In an interview with Tribune reporters and editors, Maryjane Wurth voiced concerns that hospitals could be unfairly penalized under a new quality program that reduces Medicare reimbursements if patients have to be readmitted for care.
Ms. Wurth said her group has three key interests:
- Dealing with health reform, both in the legislative and regulatory processes;
- Focusing on quality improvement and patient safety; and
- Advocating on the federal and state levels for adequate reimbursement and legislation that addresses physician shortages and supply issues.
